What’s in a Name? (pt 2)

The mre I think back about things another aspect of Jake floats into perspective. If you’ve seen the first Mortal Kombat movie, then you’ll remember the scene where Raiden tells Johnny Cage that he will rush into any fight just to prove himself; He’ll fight well, but foolishly… This is Jake. He’s all about proving to the world the he’s not a punk, in his words. From what I can understand, his definition of a punk is someone who is always ready to fight and does not know how to keep their mouth shut and just roll with a situation in order to not make waves. I have lost track of the number of times that he shot his mouth off and being the one outside looking in, I could tell that he made people very uncomfortable with some of his comments, some even hostile, but they, like me, know how to control themselves and walk away with escalating an already bad situation.

In the past two days, I have noticed that my gift of gab has returned. I have gottne back to where I can start or hold a conversation with anybody. I used to use this ability when I was in sales, but I can honestly say that just using it for pleasure is a lot more fun. Your mind doesn’t have to work overtime when you’re just talking with people for fun.

What’s in a Name?

I always state how amazed I am at humans and the acts in which they partake…and this is another instance that makes me go “Hmmm…” People spend so much time trying to emulate and become either a fictional character or a real person, but either way they will never be that person and it tears at them and forces them to do stupid things to try to accomplish an impossible goal. I love using Jake as an example…he’s given me so much to think and write about that I ought to write a book on our experiences and discussions. However, Jake has this idea that if he doesn’t bulk up he’s not attractive. He took so many different performance enhancers, fat burners, lean tabs, and the like that he would get sick or start bleeding almost every time. He couldn’t get it through his head that he was a small framed person and would likely do serious or permanent damage to himself trying to get somewhere he would never go. He even told me that at one point, if he wasn’t bulked up enough he was going to get pectoral implants. I just turned my head and bit my lip to keep from exploding into laughter. Granted, I used to be a big Michael Jordan fan…but I realized I would never be him, nor did I want his life. I played basketball because it was fun for me and my friends not because I was delirious into thinking I was someone that I wasn’t. If people would learn to be happy with the gifts and body that they were given this world would certainly be a better place. I guess that would also put a lot of people out of work…
